The gentleman who checked us in was nice and professional. The room was nice, the bed comfortable. I liked that there were outlets and light switches on each side of the bed! The only issue with the room was that there were some chips in the TV screen that showed white spots at the bottom of the picture.
The only suggestion we have is to update the DOT sign to show you are here!
I cannot give any stars for the place itself. It was so bad that we moved to the Hampton Inn at 2 am our first night of a planned 6 night stay. The room was smoky (I had reserved non-smoking). There was a hole in the wall by the bathtub. The night desk could not tell me which channel was MSNBC. People were talking loudly all night. There was so much smoke that we could not breathe. That’s why we left. Later we found out the night clerk never checked us out, so I was going to be charged for 6 nights. Good thing we went back during the day to check. The one star is for Rupert (?) the person who checked us in. He helped with a remote that didn’t work and was apologetic when we returned to talk to him.
It's not Motel 6's fault, but I was concerned about some of the other guests - when my wife and I got back from our evening out, there was a couple on the stairs to our room, who seemed to be under the influence of something, and had trouble walking and talking clearly. Also, there was a couple who got in a loud argument in the hallway at 3:30am, who woke me up.
My Mom and I were driving over 10 hours and it was time to take a break, and they left the light on for us, LOL. Very nice place. The motel is dated, but they have done some tremendous renovations. We LOVE the laminate floors! The motel was very clean, staff was extremely courteous and the area was quiet, you can't hear the traffic from the highway. We are making sure we save the information for future visits, as we drive from VA to VT at least once a year to see family.
To recap, checking in was great, the room was great, the bathroom was average, and some of the other guests made me uncomfortable.
The bathroom needed some work - the shower curtain rod was loose, the tub was chipped, the tub faucet was about an inch away from the wall, and the shower head was mounted at just over 5' in height (I'm 6' tall).
Rooms are no frills, but large, clean and comfortable. Staff (the owners maybe?) were very friendly and helpful. The hotel filled up on the weekends and didn't have many guests during the week. One suggestion is that if there are almost no guests, maybe leave an empty room between occupied rooms. There were two cars in the parking lot and yet we had the noise of neighbors coming through the connecting suite door at 3:30 am. Those doors are very thin. Such an easy problem to fix!
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our stay. The recently renovated rooms looked spectacular and the front desk staff were very friendly. If I find myself in the area again, I will be sure to book with Motel 6.
